Windshield wiper

Your car is equipped with windshield wipers which are one of the most important pieces of equipment. As a matter of fact they are a legal requirement if you are going to take your car onto the highway. The main function of windshield wipers is to remove water from your windshield. Another function is to get rid of all the filth and dirt that would otherwise block the vision of the driver.

The most important aim for a windshield wiper is to ensure the safety of the occupants.  They are also known as windscreen wipers. The windshield wiper design is an arm, this is attached at its base to a motor. The arm has a rubber blade attached to it, which is in contact with the windscreen. The wiper arm removes water and dirt as it pivots backwards and forwards over the windshield.

The speed at which the arm travels across the windshield can be varied.   Your control panel will have a switch for this. If there is only light rain you can use an intermittent setting.
The normal two blade system that is installed on most cars was replaced by Mercedes with the more effective Monoblade which can get into all corners.

This is called the wet arm system. the rear window is also cleaned with the use of a wiper blade, so are the headlamps.
